Just ask Jennifer Baker.

Jennifer seems to have it all: loving family, great friends, and the ability to manage the "The 10 Rules" of being a lesbian with ease. But one thing’s missing, and it’s the one thing she’s wanted for years: a chance to be with the love of her life—who also happens to be a lifelong friend. Fortunately, that special someone is finally single; unfortunately, that special someone is Heather. And no one makes Jennifer more nervous than Heather.

Luckily for Jennifer, she has Sam. Sam is, of course, Jennifer’s ex-girlfriend, which means that they’re now closer than ever ("Rule #6: Old girlfriends never leave; they simply turn into best friends"). And when Jennifer, Heather, Sam, and their pals show up at the same party, Sam decides she won’t let Jennifer’s shyness get in the way of true love for a moment longer.

During the party we catch a glimpse of how "The 10 Rules" apply to individuals and couples, and how they affect Jennifer’s hopes of a romantic relationship with Heather. With Sam’s support, Jennifer must find the courage to approach Heather—wondering all the while if they’ll walk off into the sunset together or come to represent another of "The 10 Rules."
